I’ve been blessed to work with a stable lineup of genre editors since I took over as editor-in-chief of Rock & Sling in 2010. We’ve changed our font more times than we’ve changed editors. Both Laurie Lamon (poetry) and Julie Riddle (nonfiction) have been on board as long as I have. For the next two issues, though, Laurie is handing the reins over to a guest editor, who will oversee our poetry selections.
I’m excited to say that that guest editor is John Allen Taylor. John worked on Rock & Sling during his undergrad, before moving on to Redivider during his MFA at Emerson, and since then has been senior reader at Ploughshares. He brings a sharp eye to the team, and he has an intuitive sense of the music of the line. I’m excited to see what you’ll send him, and what he’ll be interested in for Rock & Sling.
To help John get his feet (re)wet with us, we’ll open for submissions for the month of September. I think he’d be excited if you deluged him with your best work.
